We Three Kings

I couldn't get all the journaling I wanted into my Project Life December journal so I decided to make a full layout about our family performance as Caspar, Melchior and Balthazar.
Sorry this isn't cropped. My PSE is playing up at the moment. Click to see it better

I wanted a rich and traditional colour scheme so I layered the gold and kraft Studio Calico paper onto a dark red background by Simple Stories (both in Shimelle's Christmas in a Box) then added a strip of Echo Park manuscript paper across the top third.

I left the large and small photos unmatted but added more layers with journalling cards which tell the story of how I ended up taking part in the play instead of watching from the congregation, as told here. The green punched circles work nicely as an accent colour, but they were originally to hide the Santa image in the corner of one card, which didn't fit my story.

I've had the wooden elements since last Christmas so I had no qualms about using three on one layout. I coloured them with green and gold gel pens to  co-ordinate. The alphas are by Basic Grey but I coloured them too as they were the wrong shade of green.

The final touches were ribbon, gems and word tickets by Studio Calico (I think) and Tim Holtz.

It was nice to do some 12x12 scrapping as well as my Project Life journal. It is still my favourite format by far.

It looks great as a full page layout - glad you decided to do it that way and not squish it into PL.

I love the star paper. In fact I liked it so much that I ordered the top up kit from Shimelle! It came this morning. I hope you are able to find a way to incorporate the PL Winter kit.
