The Colour Purple

This page is about  our trip to an old slate mine in Normandy, France which is now a tourist attraction. It was a typical French Son et Lumiere experience, very interesting and exciting for the kids, but difficult to take good photos so the large, outdoors, ones are mine and the small ones I bought in the gift shop. You can see from the difference in colour between the 2 pictures of the lake how distorted my colours were underground.

When I have several photos to scrapbook I often turn to a more linear, graphic style and this double page is no exception. What is unusual, though, is the colour scheme.

Now, I love purple. I wear it. I chose it for my blog signature. I buy lots of purple papers and embellishments. But is normally use them for cards.  I very rarely scrap with them.  I don't know why but I have a pretty large stash of unloved purple, mauve and lilac scraps so I thought the large amethyst geode in the picture was a good excuse to use some of them up. I teamed them with 2 sheets of Die Cuts With a View Textured stone effect cardstock and some washi tape.

I didn't want it to be too purple or girly so I left the Studio Calico wood veneers natural and used a mixture of 2 different black alphas.

What about you? Do you have a colour you find difficult to scrap with?

Hi Kirsty. It's good to be here and catching up with what you've been up to while I was away. funnily enough, purple is my hardest colour to scrapbook with, but I like this page so much you have made me have another think..
