Back to What I Love Best

12x12 scrapping, that is.
I had plenty of photos over the Christmas period so I decided I wouldn't put the best in my JYC divided pages but devote full pages to them. It also gave me the chance to use full sheets of some of the lovely papers in Shimelle's Christmas in a Box which I couldn't bear to cut into 6x4 chunks.

This picture of the kids wearing their new fluffy hats is my favourite from Christmas Day this year.

The Simple Stories December Documented paper was already printed with layers so I didn't need to do much to it, but of course I wanted to! I fussy cut round the printed elements top and bottom and layered them over the Joy paper from Studio Calico with foam squares. The green photo mat is the reverse of the Joy paper.

I cut up a 6x4 Project Life card to make the title and the extra banners  top left and added a couple of stickers and bows for extra interest. I need to finish it off with something else that isn't paper (enamel dots, maybe?) but I'll do that soon.
I did put this one of M showing her double gap in JYC, but only as a 3x4 print so I felt it deserved its own page as well.

I wanted the long title (a poem by Pam Ayres which every member of a certain generation in the family sang to her) so I based my design around that. I printed some of the words and hand coloured them to give a 'youthful' feel and highlighted the main words with my current favourite (though not especially current) alphas - the semi translucent Remarks stickers.

The papers are by Elle's Studio (non-Christmas )You & Me line, including the branding strips across the middle, and Crate Paper Bundled Up.  The colours are perfect for my little girl and, to be  honest, I was ready for a break from the red, green and gold.
Although the colours are not traditionally Christmas, it couldn't be anything other than a Christmas layout with that hat so I added a bit of seasonal sparkle to the embellishment clusters by using my silver pen to doodle around the punched flowers and finishing off with Papermania tiny silver bows, Papermania mini buttons and silver beads.

It was nice to work on the big 12x12 space again after a month of 6x4 and 3x4. I'm happy to have got these pictures scrapped too before I put away what's left of my Christmas for another 9 months. Much as I love it (and I love it a lot, as you know,) I never feel like scrapping festive photos later in the year. I prefer to scrap current pictures so if they're aren't done now, they will probably not be done at all.

Great pages, I especially like the title treatment on the second - cute and cleverly done.

Great Christmas pages and I can see why a 3x4 or 4x6 space would not have been enough for your adorable photos! I always find that switching format is always a mojo booster :)
