Saturday Roundup 2nd November - or, What I Did At Half Term

This was a busy, but fun-filled Half Term week. After Church on Sunday (the first rehearsal for the Nativity Play) I drove the children up to see our friends J and G in Essex. I rarely do this long drive myself, but P was still in France.

We arrived in time for a late lunch and then took the kids to see 'Cloudy With A Chance of Meatballs 2' at the cinema. very weird! I have never done drugs so I come to a pstchedelic trip! The children enjoyed it though.
That night, the forecast 'destructive winds' whistled around the house and I felt sorry for G having to go out in it at 4.30 am to drive a train (obviously, the trains weren't running in fact, but he still had to be at work). However, the damage in the morning was minimal so we went out for a bracing and very muddy walk.

We left on Tuesday morning and limped slowly home round an almost-stationary M25. That night my brother, Uncle G, had promised R and M a sleepover in his camper van. M had a cold but was determined to see the night through. They were only parked in the driveway, but they resisted the temptation to come in. P and I took the opportunity to go out for a curry as a couple, an all-too-rare treat these days.
Thursday was Hallowe'en and I had agreed to host parties for both sets of school friends. M's was a sweet costume-fest with crafts, games and tea for 13 of her classmates and siblings. R had a smaller group of friends from school and Scouts, but the atmosphere was more grown up and culminated with Trick or Treating round the block. They all ate lots and had a thoroughly good time.
So that was Half Term. Not as restful as I would have liked. I also managed to write 36 reports and get up to date with my planning. Back to school now for a busy 7 weeks and then- Yikes!- it's Christmas.

Glad you all had such a good half term despite the weather - that's a happy sleepover photo!
