Saturday Roundup 19th May

SATS.
That just about sums up our week. R has had an exam every morning this week.
I was so nervous for him but, much to my surprise, he has been remarkably cool about it all. He has been able to tell me about the papers (so I have to assume he understood and was able to answer at least some of it) and he even said the grammar test was 'easy'!

I am secretly hoping this might be the saving of him. As it is a new test, the teachers seem to have very little idea of what to teach and have just been setting worksheets as homework. R, with two language teachers for parents, has found it quite straightforward and we have been able to help with what he didn't know but there must be many children whose parents couldn't help at all.
All we can do now is wait and see how he scores. We went to Creams as a reward on Friday evening. I  was not  quite as greedy as last time - as I had also been out for lunch to celebrate a colleague's 60th birthday- but strawberry crepes with ice cream were yummy.

R was also invested into Scouts this week, which he was super-excited about. I am so pleased both my children are loving Scouts and Guides as it was such a big part of my life for such a long time. I have a post planned for Storytelling Sunday next month about that.
Saturday saw P take the kids to his school's summer fete. He was pelted with sponges in the stocks while I was Church sitting. Our church is an historic building with a famous Norman door so it is open to the public on Saturday afternoons through the summer. We only had 2 visitors so I did my marking and then took the opportunity to take some photos. More of these on a separate post.

I was a Scout Leader for 30 years and it is good to see that kids still enjoy Guides & Scouts

Always heart warming to see young ones joining up in an organised and self- disciplined way to do things together. Hope you can enjoy a SAT free week!

Glad to hear things seem to have gone well. I'm fascinated by your church picture - would love to see more and hear about that Norman door.
