Scrapbooking with Strong Patterns

I fell in love with this sheet of paper from Que Sera Sera by K&Co when I first saw it, but had no idea how I was going to use it. The pattern is so gorgeous I didn't want to cover too much up, and I couldn't fussy cut it out which is what I often do with overly-patterned papers, because it was too subtle. It's too 'grown up' for cutesy pictures of M and much too girly for R so I decided I would have to scrap a picture of myself.

I know!! Shock! Horror! I don't do it often, but this photo was taken at my birthday meal last year so I felt entitled to go overboard with all the pretty floral pieces I could find.
I layered the patterned paper onto a strong-coloured cardstock, which I gutted to make a photo mat. Then I cut around the butterflies' wings and raised them up and added a scrap of patterned paper underneath. I used a collection of acetate flowers and butterflies, which came as a magazine cover gift a few months ago and created an embellished journalling card. The letter stickers are by Basic Grey Konnichiwa collection and co-ordinate perfectly.
Some self-adhesive pearls and glittery ribbon finished it off, and still allowed plenty of the paper to be displayed.

While I had my pretty embellishments out I made a couple of cards as well.

The boldness of that page followed by the softness of those cards - you are crafty at all ends of the spectrum.
