OK. I'm going to come right out here and say it: 'I'm not a fan of Secret Santas'. I can see the logic, but when has Christmas every been about logic?
With my in-laws, we buy for all the children, but choose one adult name at random to buy for - maximum spend £10. We then give not-very-subtle hints as to what we would like. It means everyone gets one present they will appreciate and we have more to spend on the kids. All very sensible, but it does take some of the fun out of it for me. I am one of those weird people who really enjoys shopping for gifts, and I like to have a surprise to open.
I don't think I've said what I want this year, mainly because I can't think of anything which fits inside the budget (I'd love an I-Pad and an I-phone 5, but that isn't going to happen!) Anyway, it won't matter as some of my in-laws read this blog so they'll probably decide I don't deserve anything now!
Having said that, though, after several years of opting out, I am joining in with the Secret Santa at college this year, as I know more of the staff now that I spend most of my teaching week in college rather than off site. I have drawn one of the female Learning Support staff, who I do know, so I'm sure a visit to Paperchase will furnish me with a £5 gift for her. Don't know who has drawn me, of course. Last time I took part I received a past-it's -sell-by-date jar of Christmas coffee. I don't even drink coffee! At least it will give me a surprise to put in my stocking. I have to fill my own stocking...but that's a story for another day.

I'm with you on this one. I don't like Secret Santa much either - I actually like shopping for things people genuinely like too
