I struggled with this one for a while. Probably because I had so many photos to scrap, and it's fairly rare for me to make a Double Layout these days.
Knowing we were going to the Paralympics, I'd deliberately saved some of my Portobello Road Union flag papers from when I scrapped the Jubilee. However, when I sat down to it they were all wrong.
I had lots of tickets and memorabilia which I wanted to use as embellishments, but they were printed on bright white and featured aqua and green, which just didn't work with the cream-based red, white and blue of Portobello Road.
Plan B was to use plain white cardstock but, with so many photos and no patterned papers, that didn't work either. So I took inspiration from Glitter Girl, made the embellishment clusters, and then put them away for a while.
When I visited Shopkeeper Gal's lovely den of iniquity on Saturday I found this Basic Grey sheet and Creative Imaginations alphabet which seemed like a good compromise - white-based, but not too stark.
I matted all the photos on different shades of cardstock to tie the colours together and used a double layer of letters to add some depth. The embellishment clusters are built on top of our Paralympic tickets, but I think we might want to be able to see them properly some time in the future, so I added the top layers with brads so they can be swivelled round.
The fact that the circles looked like Olympic rings had not occurred to me when I bought the cardstock, but once I noticed it, it seemed obvious to use the 5 colours and add the Rings across the two pages.
This will stand out in my album, as I rarely create multi-photo DLs anymore and I like that.

Great way to used the tickets and things!Tamika #14
Love how you've done this, Kirsty :) The paper is just right, especially now you've highlighted parts of it as 'Olympic rings'!
It looks fab and I love how you've created all the different elements to work, great paper choice too! Take care Zo xx
