What's On Your Workdesk Wednesday?

On my Work desk, I can see..........A French AS paper, a pile of college paperwork and, yes, the beginnings of my first Christmas cards. The tag-shaped toppers feature an old photo of my twin Aunties meeting Father Christmas 50-something years ago. I dug the picture up when I spent an afternoon looking through my Nan's photo box so I'm fairly sure the 'Twinnies' won't have seen it. I'll make 10 similar cards with these toppers  for my immediate family.

I have already decided that I am not going to stress over homemade cards this year. Card making is not my first love anyway, and I really don't enjoy mass makes. It doesn't save me money. Birthday cards do throughout the year, but not in the quantities I send Christmas cards and there are only a few people who really care whether they recive a handmade card or not. So I will make what I can for those people in the next 6 weeks and then buy charity cards and fundraisers from both children's schools to make up the numbers.

This will give me time to make some jewellery for gifts and to sell, and even do some scrapping during December. Hopefully!

What about you? Share what's on your desk here and share your thoughts on handmade Christmas cards.

Hi Kirsty - cute pic of the twins!

I love card making, but not in batches, stifles the creativity! I tried it a couple of times, particularly for Christmas cards, but find it so boring! Like to let my imagination run and just play with paper and stash to see what happens

happy WOYWW

I love the idea of using family photos as toppers, brilliant - it'll give the recipients a pleasant surprise! I gave up feeling guilty about Christmas stuff years ago - life is too short! Hugs, LLJ xx

Lovely Christmas card design :) I always try to make mine but I keep the design very simple to make it possible, and if I run out of time then charity cards are a great alternative :)

I'm not much of a card maker, but when I make them, I make a lot of them in one fell swoop. They turn out mostly all the same. Most of my true friends prefer tip-in style pages from me. Simple handmade cards go to people I don't know as well, or who don't know the amount of time spent on handmade items.

We have no charity cards or at least that's not what they are called in the States. We have craft shows and the cards aren't any better than the ones I make. Sorry I'm late getting here. I'm # 11 this week.

I made around 10 xmas cards with Mum this week - a lovely day. I bought a couple of new decoupage kits and some other bits from a new shop in my town called Carole's Crafts. We plan to have another card making day in November. I only send cards i've made to close family/freinds who I hope will appreciate them. Like you I send charity cards to the rest. But do you send the "round robin" letter inside?....

Well for someone who doesn't like card making, you've come up with such a lovely idea. Really great! Good luck with them.
