Keeping a poker face

I only got 1 layout made at the Scraploonies crop on Sunday - slow for me - but,  in my defence,  I did sort out a load of last year's Christmas stash as well.
The photos for the Poker Face layout  were taken while we were on holiday in France. We were visited by another family whose children had just discovered the joys of poker and were keen to play with R. He cannot keep a straight poker face in any situation, but he enjoyed the experience - and the chance to stay up until past midnight for the first time in his life.

I took the pictures while I was still thinking about the techniques I had learned in  Love Your Pictures, Love Your Pages, especially Depth of Field. The close up of R's hand was taken deliberately with scrapbooking in mind (I don't do that often enough) and I'm really pleased with the result. I love the secretive look on P's face too.
I had had the card suits paper for ages; it was a magazine cover gift which I had never imagined finding a use for!

The mini playing cards came out of a Christmas cracker last year, and I mounted them over the photo with pop dots. I foolishly forgot to take my alphas to the crop so I used the Cricut to cut the title - don't really like elctronic gadgets, it's more satisfying to hand cut, but the Storybook font was perfect. I inked over the letters with a black Sharpie as the grey patterned paper I'd used didn't stand out enough against the cards..
