What's on Your Workdesk Wednesday

I'd forgotten how much I enjoyed this weekly snoop, until I came back to last week after a long break. I loved getting so many lovely comments and it's made me determined to join in more regularly again, even if it has to be What Was on Your Workdesk On Monday Night instead!

I mentioned my Go-To basket of essentials, so I thought I'd share that this week. I craft on the dining room table - my desk is just a holding space - and I have to clear away after every session. I don't want to spend precious crafting time getting stuff out, though, so I keep this mauve tin on my desk with all the basics I need almost every time. It changes occasionally, depending on what I'm most loving at the time, but right now it contains:

3 pairs of scissors - large, small, and my beloved tiny decouage scissors for fussy cutting
2 distrss inks (Vintage Photo & Worn Lipstick) and my applicator
Staz On black ink
My corner rounder punch, which I use on most cards
Double sided tape & a glue stick. I'd normally have an adhesive tape runner too, but I've run out
My Smash pen, for journalling and adhering small elements
Sakura clear star pen, for adding subtle sparkle to small areas
2 smash pads for journalling
A date stamp - used mostly in my Smash book, but also on layouts
Sticky foam pads
Tiny butterfly punch (my larger ones are kept on my desk)
The only 4 rolls of washi tapes I possess, my new favourite thing
Tim Holtz tickets - there is always room on a layout for a ticket or 2.
A piece of acrylic, with whatever stamp I used last

What are your Desert Island tools??

Hi Kirsty! Thanks for visiting my blog and leaving birthday wishes for me! I love your idea of the to-go basket. My desert island tools would be very similar to yours. I love that you included a butterfly punch!

Great idea to have a basket "to-go". I dont really think I could survive on a desert island because I would need everything, all at once of course. Then there would have to be some kind of craft store on the island too. Tracey x ±90

I like the go to basket idea. I might borrow and adapt it for all those things I forget I have and want to use more often.

Great post Kirsty, I think I have to think about it, but I couldn't go without a scalpel in my box...although now I think about it, I'm not sure why!

I love your idea of having the "must have" items in a tin for easy pick up and go. I have mine all in reach but not the same as a tin for easy movement, which since I have been crafting with friends lately would be better. My must have items are my sliding paper cutter (which also scores), 3 pairs of scissors like you, foam tape, Tacky Glue, Momento black ink, scallop border punch, Tombow tape roller, tweezers, bling and gems, Copic markers. I understand how your must have items change from time to time. I stick bling and/or gems onto everything now. I was on a staple kick for a bit. Ribbon... brads, eyelets, it all comes and goes.

I have an entire suitcase of Tim Holtz inks, sprays and pearls that goes with me everywhere! Well I am late with my rounds, technically it is still Wednesday somewhere in the world I think! Great space and Happy Woyww.

I keep my "must have" items on my table within reach. I wish I had some "fussy cut" scissors, too! Happy WOYWW from #4 this week.

Now that is a good idea for someone whom can't get to keep all her stuff out all the time.

Thanks for sharing

Great idea having a tin for essentials, but for me everything in my room is essential so I guess I could never go to a desert island, I'd sink the place! Anne x #44

Hi Kirsty. I know I've already commented here, but I just wanted to let you know you've won the draw for this week's Finding Fun - let me have your address and I'll get your prize in the post.

I have a basket on the corner of my desk that is my everyday things basket. I have large scissors, small sharp non-stick scissors, journalling pens, glue dots of varying sizes, my ATG, skinny DST, a date stamp, Vintage Photo distress ink and an applicator and an assortment of rubbish depending on when I last cleared it out! #57
