I really have to recommend this book.
It tells the story of Corrie Ten Boom, a fifty-something Dutch spinster, imprisoned by the Nazis for rescuing hundreds of persecuted Jews during World War II. The ten Boom family were devout Dutch Reform Church watchmakers whose small shop became a centre for the Dutch Underground.
Following a raid, Corrie and her sister Betsie were incarcerated in the notorious women's camp Ravensbruke where, beset by lice, malnutrition and ill health they continued to risk their lives by spreading God's word.
This is an inspiring story and a compelling read. I was humbled, appalled and enthralled.
