Hello Monday

Hello  to yet another incomplete week - R's school is closed due to industrial action on Thursday and M's is closed for INSET on Friday. I am working both of those days!

Hello to Parent-teacher meeting with M's teachers - not too worried.

Hello to completing my exam entries at college.

Hello to celebrating my 43rd birthday on Thursday - not too sure yet, how.

Hello to Book Group on Friday - discussing K Rowling's 'A Casual Vacancy' which I have nearly finished, but not really enjoyed. It's engaging in the same way Soap Operas are - a group of misfits all with personal issues thrown together in a confined setting. Looking forward to a glass of wine and a chance to air my opinions.

Hello to the wedding on Saturday - an old friend of mine and R's Godmother. R is ring-bearer so this is a big deal we have been building up to for some time.

Hello October

I'm a fan of October - it's less stressful than September; the leaves are turning; we eat low-cooked stews instead of salad; wear snuggly jumpers instead of flesh-revealing sleeveless tops; there's half-term, Hallowe'en and my birthday but I don't love getting up in the dark and coming home in the dark.
                                       
I'm looking forward to a fun and busy month. The calendar is already filling up: M has 2 parties and a Rainbow Fun Day. R has a Scout camp. We are getting excited about our friends' wedding and half term will involve staying overnight with some other friends and hosting not 1 but 2 Hallowe'en parties. Oh yes, and did I mention my birthday?

I just pray we all stay well enough to enjoy it all as there are a lot of nasty viruses doing the rounds at the moment.

Hello to finally meeting my adult ESOL classes and starting to teach them instead of just enrolling..

Hello to lots of marking as I give all my new classes diagnostic assessments in the first lessons.

Hello to my normal working hours instead of enrolment and assessing.

But....hello to a tutor meeting and parents' evening outside of my normal working hours. Oh well C'est la vie!

Hello to the start of all the after school activities for R and M. Complicated but fun.

Hello to normal busy. 6.30am to 9.30pm.

Hello to pay day!!!! Just as well, after a car MOT and service and a Hen Weekend, I am feeling a bit skint.

Hello to dental treatment for R. He has to have 2 teeth extracted to make room for new ones.

Hello to a full day's training of the new on-line marking system at college. Can't see it improving my life!

Hello to more enrolments. The last, thank Goodness!

Hello to a Hen do in Oxford at the weekend.

Hello to the first full week of school for everyone.
Hello to a new year of Rainbows and Scouts.
Hello to my new tutor group  and my new 6th Form ESOL class at college.
Hello to juggling after school childcare while my Mum and my Mother-in-law are both on holiday.
Hello to auditions for the School Musical. Good luck to R with those.
Hello to starting recorder lessons. Good luck to M with those. Sometimes I'm grateful to have hearing aids I can take out. This might be one of those times!
Hello to 3 more sessions of enrolment - adult students this time. I will be glad when normal teaching starts.

Hello September

Hello new school term. It's back to school this week for P and M and the first day of secondary school for R. A big change - being the youngest (literally) of 1500 pupils, rather than the eldest of 450. 

Uniform all named and ready to go.

Hello new normal - secondary school starts at 8.25 and finishes 2.15. It will take some getting used to.
Hello to celebrating exam success with last year's ESOL students.
Hello to a curry on Friday night to say goodbye to our (already much-missed) department administrator.
Hello to starting LSNED. I haven't quite decide what format it's going to take yet, but it will certainly be about the change to secondary school.
Hello to a tidier house without the children at home all day.

HAPPY NEW (SCHOOL) YEAR TO YOU ALL!

Hello Monday

Hello to a day of travelling today. We're going back home to the UK after 41/2 weeks in France. It has been wonderful - full of good weather, good company and fun days out. I am very sad to leave.

Hello to seeing family and friends again after a month away.

Hello INSET day tomorrow and then 3 days of new student enrolment at college.

Hello to 2 birthday parties. P and R both celebrate theirs this week.

Hello to playing with new birthday toys (I can't say any more)

Hello to Holiday Club at Church. Lucky it fell this week when I have to work every day.

Hello to last minute back-to-school preparations. Lots of new uniform that needs naming.

Goodbye to France. I won't see you again until next Spring. I'll miss you.

Hello Monday - 1st October

Can you believe it's October? It's one of my favourite months.
Hello to a week without R. He is going to the Isle of Wight for a whole week with his class. M will miss her big brother terribly so I'll have to think of some extra treats for her.
